For this week's blog post, I wanted to post about this slice-of-life/comedy anime called Nichijou. In this clip, the principal is fighting a deer at school, and I thought this would be funny to share. I own the manga for the series, and I really recommend it! It is super funny, and the characters are really admirable.

Katakana Examples
First example: Starbucks
There is emphasis on the pronunciation, and the English "r" is removed due to its absence in Japanese pronunciation.
Second example: Wendy's
Similar to Starbucks. In addition, we see "--" to extend certain sounds in pronunciation.
While looking up words in Katakana, I noticed that some Japanese words sound very similar to words in English. Some differences include a slight tweak in pronunciation and different spelling. Otherwise, it is somewhat easy to pick up the general idea of what a word is.Monday, March 16, 2026
